Launching Something New
Me and my wife had a baby in the fall of 2024. I decided December was an excellent time to begin a brand new venture with my dear friend and fellow writer (also a new mom) Maddy.
This new idea was the Oak and Ink Collective. An idea not born of a ‘lightning strike’ moment but a sleep-deprived waking dream while walking my dog in a milk-stained sweatshirt avoiding my neighbors.
My dream—or at least one out of a few—is to write books. Having a baby, a full-time job, and still wanting to see friends and family doesn’t leave much time for the creative process. Hard to let the creative juices flow when you’re running on 0.
So, Oak and Ink is a twofold strategy—a reason to sit down and write my books and for others to join and get theirs done too.
Because getting to The End is a beast and it’s better with friends.
2025 is shaping up to be a challenging year for many, and as someone who lives in Washington, DC, works for a research organization, and is very close to what’s going on with federal workers , this project has grown to be my refuge. Well, writing is my refuge so this group along with it.
Here’s to a year of writing, come what may in the rest of the world, and doing it together.
What are my hopes for Oak and Ink as it grows and gets off the ground? Continued community for those who seek it and, above all, progress all of our collective works in progress.
